Ben Chan
Managing Director
Ben Chan is the founder of Sandrock Consulting and he is responsible for the company’s strategic direction and operational management. He has nearly 20 years’ experience in market research and strategic consulting. Over the years he has been involved in projects across ICT, retail, banking and finance, oil & gas, government and FMCG sectors.
Working across a wide range of industries has taught him to appreciate and understand the types of challenges faced by these industries. This has enabled him to look at issues from clients’ perspectives and thus craft an actionable approach to the issues at hand.
Prior to founding Sandrock Consulting, Ben was the Country Sales Manager at IDC.
Ben Chan graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Marketing from the University of Western Australia.
Jim Sailor
Executive Director
Jim Sailor is currently based in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia where he focuses on cybersecurity, technology, risk perception, behavioral science, and professional services. In his previous role as the Managing Director of the ASEAN region for technology research firm IDC (2012-2016) Jim was responsible for the management of IDC's business in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines as well as further growing newly emerging markets such as Myanmar and Cambodia.
Jim has spent over 20 years working in Asia in leading management positions primarily in market research and consulting. Before working at IDC, Jim worked as a search and assessment consultant for the premium executive search firm Russell Reynolds Associates (2010-2012). Based in Shanghai, he worked with a variety of blue chip clients across the Asia Pacific region to identify, assess and place talent. From 1992 to 2009 Jim worked for global market research firm Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) with postings in Hong Kong, Taipei and Shanghai. His most recent position with TNS was as head of Greater China and member of the board of directors for Asia, Latin America and the Middle East/Africa (2006-2009).
Originally from the US, Jim is an honors graduate from the University of Wisconsin - Madison where he double-majored in Marketing and East Asian Studies with a focus on International Business. He also holds a master’s degree (MSc) with distinction in Behavioral Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Tai Kim Fong
IT Director
Tai used to be the Director of Information Technology Department at Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) between August 2010 to August 2017.
He has over 29 years work experience in the IT / Finance industry working in MIDF, Etiqa and TA Securities. He participated in IDC / CIO conferences speaker / discussion panel member on topics such as Security, Mobility and Cloud Computing. He is a strong proponent of ISMS (ISO27001:2013) and Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF).
At KWAP, Tai provided strategic leadership for the alignment of IT initiatives with business initiatives, the adoption of new / disruptive technologies to facilitate business leadership and ensured good IT governance.
Tai is a certified Business Continuity Certified Expert, has earned the COBIT Foundation Certificate from ISACA and is an Associate Member of Malaysian Alliance of Corporate Directors. He obtained Bachelor of Science (Computer Science & Economics), Iowa State University, USA.
